Historical Information: U23B was one of a series of 2250 hp four-axle road-switcher diesel-electric locomotives built by GE between 1968 and 1977. 481 units were produced and there are still several in active service on short lines and regional railroads in North America.
This Atlas n scale U23B locomotive is DCC-Ready for easy DCC decoder installation. Its many features include a dual flywheel equipped 5-pole skewed armature motor with a low friction mechanism, directional lighting, golden white LEDs, blackened metal wheels, separate coupler cut lever, painted safety rails, and AccuMate® magnetic knuckle couplers. Also included is a cab with 2 or 4 side windows as per the prototype, and an operational low nose headlight if appropriate for this road name.
