Product Description

UP 542, built as UP 2042 in April 1975, was one of a series of medium powered locomotives introduced by GE in 1968. The U-23B had a long production run that lasted until 1977. 481 units were produced and there are still several locomotives in active service on short lines and regional railroads in North America.

ATLAS 45965 is DCC/decoder ready and its many features include a dual flywheel equipped 5-pole skewed armature motor with a low friction mechanism, directional lighting, golden white LEDs, blackened metal wheels, painted safety rails, separate coupler cut lever, and AccuMate® magnetic knuckle couplers. Also included is a cab with 2 or 4 side windows, as appropriate for this road name.
