Historical Information: Over 2700 four-axle 1500 hp GP-7 diesel locomotives were produced by EMD between 1949 and 1954. The GP-7 was the main freight power through the 1960s and was used in local and switching service in the 1970s and 1980s. Many were rebuilt and are still in service on short lines.
This Atlas N scale GP-7 locomotive is NCE decoder equipped for DCC. Its many features also include a powered low friction drive, directional lighting, blackened metal wheels, dual brass flywheels, AccuMate® couplers, and golden-white LEDs.
NCE decoder features include Silent Running™ motor drive, the ability to program both short and long addresses on main line in Ops mode, torque compensation for ultra-smooth low speed performance, programmable start, mid and maximum speed CVs that work in all speed modes, and four function outputs with lighting effects generators that allow you to select from 15 different lighting behaviors (ditch lights, Mars light, strobes, beacon, etc).
