Historical Information: C420 (four-axle 2000hp) road switcher diesel locomotives were produced by ALCO between June 1963 and August 1978.
Atlas HO scale museum-like quality C420 Master Series Gold is equipped with QSI Titan Sound Technology. Its many features include a five-pole skewed armature motor with dual flywheels for optimum performance at all speeds, and directional lighting with golden-white LEDs. Additional features include windshield wipers, metal grab irons, coupler cut levers, multiple-unit hoses, train line hoses, fine scale handrails, drop steps, cab sun shades, see through step detail on sill, etched metal radiator walkway, painted crew members, and a 3100 gallon fuel tank. Flat or “step” pilots are used as appropriate for this road name. AccuMate® knuckle couplers are standard and it also comes with a coupler pocket designed to accept AccuMate® Proto-couplers.
QSI Titan Sound Technology features an electronic Dual-Mode® decoder (e-DMD) that allows your locomotive to run in DCC or traditional DC. Features include a new second generation sound processor for an increase in sound quality and variety. Also featured are 64 simultaneous sound channels.
Note: It is not possible to MU sound and non-sound-equipped locomotives in DC (analog) mode.
