Historical Information: C40-8 locomotives were produced by GE in the late 1980s as part of their DASH 8-40C series. These 6-axle 4000 hp C40-8 engines are still in service today in North America.
Atlas HO scale Dash 8-40C Master Series Silver is DCC-READY and comes with an 8-pin plug for easy DCC/Sound installation. Its many features include a five-pole skewed armature motor with dual flywheels for optimum performance at all speeds, directional lighting, and factory-equipped AccuMate® knuckle couplers. Additional features include a realistic die-cast under-frame, painted crew members, separately-installed scale windshield wipers, metal grab irons and fine scale handrails, highly detailed coupler cut bars, multiple unit hoses and train-line hoses, snowplow, piping on trucks, and a coupler pocket designed to accept AccuMate® Photo-couplers.
