ATLAS 10002582 HO Scale GP40-2 UP 1461 (Union Pacific) Locomotive
Historical Information: 1143 3000 hp 4-axle GP40-2 diesel locomotives were produced by EMD for North American railroads between 1972 and 1986. A large number are still in service.
This Atlas HO scale GP40-2 Master Series Silver locomotive is DCC-READY and comes with an NMRA 8-pin plug for easy DCC/Sound decoder installation. Its many features include a realistic die-cast under-frame, a five-pole skewed armature motor with dual flywheels for optimum performance at all speeds, directional lighting, golden-white LEDs, and factory-equipped AccuMate® knuckle couplers. Additional features include detailed cab interior with crew, separately-installed scale windshield wipers, metal grab irons and fine scale handrails, movable drop steps, walkway safety tread, coupler cut bars, multiple unit hoses and train-line hoses, snowplow, and a 2,600 or 3,600 gallon fuel tank (as per prototype).
Also included where appropriate (as per the prototype) are etched metal radiator and dynamic brake fans, and dynamic brake options (standard range, extended range or non-dynamic brake hatch).
