CR 8189, built in May 1978, was one of 2215 four-axle 2000 hp GP38-2 diesel-electric locomotives produced by EMD between 1972 and 1986. The Dash 2 was designed for increased traction and reduced emissions and is one of the most successful locomotives ever built. Most are still in service today.
ATLAS Trainman 10001210 HO scale comes with a NMRA 8-pin plug and is DCC/decoder ready. It also has the same drive as the Atlas basic Master Series. Its many features include a five-pole skewed armature motor with dual flywheels, separately applied hand rails and end railings, locating dimples for grab irons, true scale dimensions with accurate details, realistic die-cast under-frame, and AccuMate® couplers. Also featured is a 2600 or 3600 gallon fuel tank, depending on the prototype.
