Historical Information: 2215 four-axle 2000 hp GP38-2 diesel-electric locomotives were produced by EMD between 1972 and 1986. The Dash 2 was designed for increased traction and reduced emissions and is one of the most successful locomotives ever built. Most are still in service today.
This Atlas Trainman HO scale Classic Silver locomotive has the same drive as the Atlas basic Master Series. It is DCC-READY and comes with a NMRA 8-pin plug for easy DCC/Sound installation. Its many features include a five-pole skewed armature motor with dual flywheels, separately applied handrails and end railings, locating dimples for grab irons, true scale dimensions with accurate details, realistic die-cast under-frame, and AccuMate® couplers. Also featured is a 2600- or 3600-gallon fuel tank, depending on the prototype.
